Guests are like surprises, you never know when they might approach you; but you must be prepared for such time well in advance and should have some preparation and gear up saying, “C’mon I am game for it." This, is something I realized when I a chance which I was looking for so many years and left empty handed, banging my head for my laziness and ignorance .
Life is really pretty unpredictable, it can change your scores in seconds. It was a surprise visit by the Director of our college, to our college premises with the intention to check the growth of the college and the achievements so far.
Those days I was the key speaker of the college and my college head coordinator came informing me, “Sir, our director sir came and would like to discuss about our college's growth and achievements and Dean sir asked you to be there .
I was in shock, not because he gave a surprise visit to the college and wanted to interact about the development and growth of the institution, but because I was wearing a stubble face that day, which I had simply ignored while leaving for the college with the thought of shaving it some other day. And as the adage goes, 'Tomorrow never comes' and this laziness was about to kill me other moment.
I approached the Dean of the college and he took a hard look at me and his reaction was enough for me to know clearly, what could possibly be going on in his mind.
That long hard stare was followed by, “What is this?". I had no answer and kept my head low. I was feeling embarrassed and in the meantime, I was about to say something, but what I heard next left me in shock. He said, “This chance may let you to get scholarship for the years left and in this stubble look, is this possible?”
I understood what he was trying to point out and she called an another guy and I was asked to explain all in and out about what and how and the stats with me and which was given to me and explained him how to present and everything, thus giving him a chance of interacting. Next month his scholarship was announced that all because of his clean shaven face. I lost the chance of being the one, despite all my hard work and efforts I had put in. It was not me but my Stubble look which made me to loose this golden chance.
